inspiration workshop :: perfect bathroom

This week's theme for Gussy's Inspiration Workshop is PERFECT BATHROOM.

I love the light, airy, feel of the bathroom.
I love the old fashion tub.  (And I am sure Kate would the tub, too!)
I love the simplicity.

What would your perfect bathroom be?

the view :: week 4

This week I took my first solo hike.

The trail starts at the bottom of a canyon and heads right up into the foothills of Southeast Boulder County.

It was wonderful to spend two hours by myself in such a beautiful place.

I enjoyed the quiet of nature and the view.

I see more hikes just like this in my near future.

rodeo parade

Last Saturday we headed up to the small mountain town where my husband works to attend the Rodeo Parade.

This was Kate's first parade.

She quickly figured out that some people hand out candy, flags, and goodies.
And she even asked if she could be in the parade.

It was a beautiful day.
The people were kind.
Many of the older kids made sure Kate got a piece of candy when the opportunities came around.
When I asked Kate what her favorite float in the parade was she said, "The ones who gave me candy."

The day ended with a pony ride
and
one very happy little girl!

six years ago today...

...I take you to be husband, my friend, my love, and my lifelong companion:  to share my life with yours.  To build our dreams together, while allowing you to grow with your dreams; to support you through times of happiness; to treat you with respect, love, and loyalty through all the trials and triumphs of our lives together; and to give you all the love I can give my whole life long.  This commitment is made in love, kept in faith, lived in hope, and eternally made new...

inspiration workshop :: week 4

This week's theme for Gussy's Inspiration Workshop is SPEND THE DAY PLAYING.

If I could SPEND THE DAY PLAYING any way I wanted I would love to spend my day crafting or thrifting with my dear friend Jami.  She is amazing at thrifting and an even more amazing crafter.

Here are just a few of the creative, crafty, things I would love to have her teach me how to do:

Isn't she AMAZING?  Talented, crafty, and a wonderful friend!

You can see more of Jami's amazing talent and ideas here and here!

How would you spend the day playing?

the view :: week three :: part one

Earlier this week I took Kate for her first hike in Eldorado Canyon.
I was so excited and Kate was thrilled to be "going to the mountains."
(Please Note: One: If I am really excited about something involving Kate it will probably flop. Two: The canyon is in the foothills. The highest peak is 7, 240 ft.)

We started out strong.

I had packed snacks and water.
My camera was ready.
Kate was loaded up with sunscreen.

My first fail was not knowing the canyon well. I parked at the first spot I saw. I later learned I should have followed the road until it ended.
My second fail was mentioning Kate's stroller to her.
Lessons learned.

We did not end up hiking that far.
We walked up the road a bit, went through Whale's Tale (which is a neat little path with a few neat caves), watched the rock climbers, and then went back to the car to drive up the road a bit further.

We finally found the Visitor Center, chatted with some really nice ladies, learned about a better trail to try next time, discovered that they have some fun toddler/preschool activities, ate a lot of veggie sticks, stuck our toes in the South Boulder Creek, took a few pictures while standing on top of a picnic table, and then headed home.

For me this hike was not a success.
But I did get my toes wet (literally and figuratively) and I am better prepared for next time.
I am not giving up.
I am determined to give hiking a try with Kate.

And today we are going to do just that!

inspiration workshop :: week three :: green

This week's theme for Gussy's Inspiration Workshop is GREEN.

Here are few ideas that came to mind when I thought of GREEN:
• A room designed around the color GREEN.
• Gardens.
• Ego-Friendly items and fun ways to go GREEN.
• A collection of photography that had a GREEN theme.

I loved all of these inspiration ideas but I decided to tie this week's workshop into one of my summer goals: Get Outdoors and Take Weekly Hikes.

Here is my GREEN inspiration for the summer weeks ahead:

Niedrach Nature Loop
Barr Lake State Park

Coot Lake
Boulder Reservoir

Flatiron Loop Trail
Chautauqua Park

Fowler Trail
Eldorado Canyon State Park

Little Thompson Overlook Trail
Rabbit Mountain Trailhead

Sawmill Trail
White Ranch Park

(all photos were found at ProTrails)

What inspires you when you think of GREEN?
