inspiration workshop :: week 6 :: pamper yourself

This week's theme for Gussy's Inspiration Workshop is PAMPER YOURSELF.

As a mom of a young child it can be very easy to forget to do something for yourself.  You have meals to cook, clothes to wash, dishes to clean, toys to organize, play dates and activities to attend.  In the mornings you not only need to get yourself out of the door but your child as well.  And most of the time when you are rushing out of the door you want your child to at least be dressed.  (And if you are me, you want your child to be dressed in an outfit that matches, shoes that kind-of match, and hair that has been attempted to be done.  And if you are my child, you must resist at least one of the steps in the morning routine and decide at the last minute that you need to take something along with you in the car.  Honestly, many days I wonder how I ever manage to get to work on time.)

With all of this it can be really easy to forget about yourself.  Once I became a mom the idea of manicures, pedicures, and regular trips to the salon all went by the wayside.  One, they can put a strain on a tight budget.  Two, they take time (and I don't always have extra (hours) of time to myself.)

In all the craziness of being a mom, wife, friend, daughter, teacher, etc. I do have some small ways I pamper myself every day...

First,  I take a shower every day (usually very early in the morning).

Second, I faithfully use Aveda shampoo, conditioner, and hair products to wash and style my hair.

(You might say I am a little obsessed. :))

Third, I (almost) always do my makeup.

I love Bobbi Brown's makeup line and philosophy about beauty and women.
I don't wear a lot of makeup.  I try to make myself my best self but not look overdone.

And lastly, I wear a little perfume.

Right now I am loving Bobbi Brown's Beach.  It is the perfect scent for summer!

Many days this is the only time I have to spend time on myself.  For me it is time well spent!

How do you pamper yourself?

  2. I think this is a great way to add some pampering to your every day routine :). I'm a teacher too but not a mom yet and the thought is kind of scary - how do you do it all!?!?! :)

  3. Your mornings sound like mine. Sometimes I'm glad that my daughter has style opinions, but it makes getting ready a challenge. Your little gal is just beautiful.

It is so important to still feel like a WOMAN and not just MOM and WIFE! (:
