inspiration workshop:: inspiring books

It is week fifteen of Gussy Sews' inspiration workshop!  This week's prompt is INSPIRING BOOKS.

One book that has inspired me in my career as a teacher is Educating Esme.

It is a wonderful memoir of a teacher's first year.  It made me laugh, it made me cry, it gave me wonderful ideas, it reminded me of why teachers do what they do regardless of the struggles they face.  It truly touched my heart and soul.  It inspired me to be the best teacher I can be.

I have given this book to those I have mentored and those who have student taught with me.

Every beginning teacher should read this book.  You can't read it without being inspired.

Another inspiring book that I have read recently is The Shack.

This book has given me a new understanding and a new perspective of the Trinity.  It also taught me lessons about judgement, forgiveness, and unconditional love.  It is a powerful, awe, inspiring book.

What books have inspired you in your life?

  2. Thanks for stopping by! Oh, The Places You'll Go is definitely a great gift to give.

    Your daughter is adorable! I'm so glad that you plan on checking out The Story of Holly and Ivy. It's a great one to read to little girls. :)

  3. Oh.My.Goodness. Those are two of my most favorite books! Not even kidding. I read Educating Esme when I was completing my education degree, and LOVED IT! She's so comical and straight-forward and stands her ground/stays true to herself. And quirky too! Love love love. And The Shack has seriously made it's round through my entire family-- grandparents, aunts and uncles, you name it. A great one. :-)
